Here is an excerpt from the article (Nikkei Sangyo Nikkei Sangyo, 11/18/98, p.1): "FUJI Photo FILM will sell Linux, a UNIX-based operating system which seems to be becoming increasingly popular globally." It goes on to say that their subsidiary "FUJI Magnetics" are partnering with a database company called "Gideon" to write applications for Linux. Apparently, it will sell for 14,800 yen or $122. Linux Today: Do you know of a URL to confirm this? I don't have a URL. I picked up the article from an internal IBM news-gathering source. The part in brackets is the closest thing to a reference... Just in... Takashi Yaekura writes: Yes, the rumor is true. Fuji's announcement can be found at http://www.fujifilm.co.jp/news_r/nrj398.html Although the announcement is available only in Japanese, you can still find a nice looking penguin in the attached photo. They say that the package is "only for server use."
